“WE CAN, WE WILL”

Peace, blessings and welcome on behalf of the Greater Mobile (AL) Chapter Buffalo Soldiers.  As we prepare to host the 153rdBuffalo Soldiers Anniversary, we are incredibly excited that the National Committee selected to celebrate in Mobile (the Birthplace of Mardi Gras), July 29 – August 3, 2019.  We will “Preserve the Legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers” and commemorate their valor at our Annual Banquet on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 7:00 PM.

This reunion is dedicated to honoring our Living Legends, Trooper Henri LeGendre, Trooper Bruce Dennis, Trooper Waldo Henderson and Trooper John Nichols, who served our country with valor, nobility and distinction.  We will bestow special recognition to these four members whose service continues as they educate our communities about the contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers.

We are especially grateful to all donors, volunteers, and the diligent members of Greater Mobile Chapter 41.  We have been so inspired by the excitement of the Mobile community and the positive response from so many citizens and organizations who committed to help assure a successful 153rd Reunion.

In the essence of our sincerest appreciation, we send a great big salute to the 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry Association for their unwavering leadership and encouragement to the continuance of homage to the Buffalo Soldiers.   May such an assembly as this continue to stimulate and endow you to preserve the legacy.

The Buffalo Soldiers’ legacy has inspired African American service men and women that if they did their best for their country, sooner or later their country would do its best for them and those who come after.  In the hateful context of oppression, discrimination and unappreciated sacrifices – the Buffalo Soldiers represented courage, leadership, resilience and innovation.

The theme for the 9th & 10th (Horse) Cavalry Association 153rd Anniversary is “Preserving the Legacy” as we celebrate the formation of the first regular Army regiments of African American soldiers and our Living Legends.

We look forward to a Magnificent 153rd Buffalo Soldiers Anniversary.  See you in Mobile.
